The Bahamas Red Cross is the local arm of the International Red Cross. It provides assistance in times of national emergencies as well as ongoing support to alleviate suffering in the Bahamas.

The Bahamas Red Cross is currently seeking supplies and assistance to meet the needs of Hurricane Matthew victims. The 2016 storm struck the Bahamas in early October, registering as a Category 4 hurricane. Relief efforts are ongoing, and the Red Cross is requesting donations of water, nonperishable food, and basic hygiene supplies. The organization also requires clotheslines and pins, tarps, portable stoves, flashlights, and supplies for children.

The Royal Bank of Canada Bahamas on John F. Kennedy Drive is taking in donations locally. To learn more or to donate online, visit: www.bahamasredcross.com.
